Discussion
I do have some problems with my wireless connection. Over-all its a wonderfull new tool, but the wireless connection with ubuntu 12.04 seems to be unstable as hell. It is connecting (logs on router) but the connection gets lost after a few seconds or milliseconds.
rrrr
A good overall laptop. Very good price for the range of laptop.
Fantastic display resolution at 1080p. Nice bright screen with excellent colour gamut.
Expandable to 32 gigs of RAM. Can add 2nd hard drive instead of CDROM. Easy to access screws and panels.
Cooling is very good. You won't feel any heat coming through the keyboard even after hours of heavy use.
Service: I bought next day on site support. Had to have the keyboard replaced due to a sticking ENTER key. It took Lenovo three days to get the part to the tech. However, the rep was very professional and they indeed came to site to replace the keyboard.
Negatives:
- the camera is almost garbage as it gives poor image quality in even ideal lighting conditions. Lots of noise and artifacts. This makes for poor video skype calls and conferencing. It is so bad that I thought it was defective and had Lenovo replace it. The new camera was just as bad as the old one.
- keyboard is not back-lit. This can make searching for keys (key layout is different from many other laptops) a bit annoying when working in a low light situation.
Overall: good laptop that can also run Linux well.
One more negative:
- mouse pad is functional but driver has bugs. Biggest issue is a sticking problem where the mouse cursor will fail to move on the first finger swipe. Instead a second or third finger swipe is needed to get the mouse cursor to move.
