On switching on today, my screen is blank but my SL500 appears to be running

I just stuck a 500gb hdd. The only thing stopping me from putting anything bigger in there was the physical drive space. I think 8 or 9 mm was the biggest it could be. I wanted a drive then and there so i didnt want to order one in. 500 gb is enough for me anyway.
