When you install Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (5 years support) you have no hardware problem, I use it too, works great.

hi i own a hp compaq 610 and using ubuntu 10.10 yes the webcam works well (i have tried it in video chating using skype and with the cheese program) i have only started using it recently and the only problem that i encountered with drivers is the printer where the system recognized it as soon as i connected it and still it wasn't working so i had to go to hpstup to reconfigure it then it worked (don't know if it is a driver problem or not actualy :) )
