Well, the laptop is nice and cheap. The card reader is COMPLETELY MESSED UP, it's a bug in all the 1420's, I even tried windows and it only reads SD cards as read only.
So far the only linux distro I tried was ubuntu 11.04 32bit, and then 64 bit (I didn't have a 64bit cd prepared the first time around).
My wifi started to mess up when I installed lubuntu packages. Other then that everything works decent. The webcam is terrible, it lags in ubuntu. Also the bloat of ubuntu 11.04 and unity will be noticeable at some point. The integrated card is awful, it jugs trying to run opengl.
If you want something for coding, light browsing it's a nice laptop, the keys feel surprisingly nice (better then most laptops actually) but the short comings on performance with ubuntu are making me look into other distros.
Don't spend more then $100 on this (as of 2011) and maybe skip on the compiz heavy linux distros as the videocard is really bad and there aren't work arounds, I have a few grey hairs to prove it.
