11.04 works fine on 1830T i5. Just follow the blacklist instructions here:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/778168
I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 on the 1830T (core i3).
Wifi doesn't work - so I've plugged in a DLink USB device for Wifi.
If I leave the laptop unattended (with power) and without suspend, eventually it goes into an unrecoverable state and I have to power cycle it.
I tried a number of “solutions” on the web to fix the wifi, but I couldn't get then to work.
I haven't done an accurate timing of the battery running time, but it seems more like 5 hours than 8.
I don't really like the Unity interface and I suspect that the Ubuntu Classic interface is suffering for lack of support.
